| 26th March...Man, has the rain come down or what??? So as you might guess, the crits were called off due to a deluge of water, was looking forward to some high heartrate for the week...oh well, there's always next week. Next week is the last race of the second series, should be a blinder!
In a small way I was glad to miss the race, had a visit to the dentist (Stat, the best dentist in the East!) so after some cut and shut the mouth was still pretty numb. So instead of racing I still did a rather wet 35km bike path loop. So combine riding in the rain and numb lips... try clearing your nose or mouth when you can't seal your lips!!! Drinking water from a bottle was hard enough, squirt it in and dribble everywhere, good it was raining! Amielle has recovered well from her prang, can't remember what happened or much after it, not surprising really! Shows that a head and an immovable object don't mix!!! In some exciting cycle news, I received some sneak peak pics of a new brand of wheels entering the market place - bouwmeester being the brand name, website to follow as it comes on line. Parts sourced from around the globe and hand assembled and trued right here in Aus. Road, race, triathlon and time-trial wheels with a range of spoke choices. Ultra quick engagement rear hubs round out the package. Pics below can be enlarged with a click...tubs and clinchers available. 24th March...A sweet road cruise this morning, out to Emerald via Belgrave, across to Monbulk, up to Kallista and home via Belgrave. A nice 40km with 660ish m of climbing...pretty quiet on the roads and saw Puffing Billy chugging over the bridge chockers full of waving patrons, even with the high ticket price these days... Bezerk jerseys...need to get around to taking some pics...$60 for a comfortable, hard wearing, 3/4 zippered jersey is a bit of a bargain I think...from small to 2XL...not much else to say but have you bought one yet? 23rd March...Hmm, an eventful Saturday arvo/night was had by our family...we went for a cycle picnic and Amielle (my daughter, just turned 7) decided it was best to use her body as a brake as she entered the downhill cyclepath underpass. Fortunately her helmet took most of the impact, she's now proudly showing off multiple bruises/scrapes and a fat and busted up lip! Thanks to the docs and nurses at William Angliss for treating her last nite and the Dental Emergency Services in Kew this morning for making sure her teeth weren't damaged. Thus I didn't show for the Easter Sunday ride, I'm sure I'll hear from the Bezerk Crew later on today... To lighten the mood a little, do you like motorbikes but don't like splitting lanes? Check this out. Or do you have a nice stretch of road and your mate's Bugatti Veyron is begging for a challenge... 22nd March...Well after some thought, I decided it was time to start doing the blog thing, so here we go! Who knows how regular it wil be, but should be at least once a week...hoping to include stuff like rides that I or the Bezerk Crew will be doing, progress with the long awaited Bezerk frames, race results and other bits and pieces that I come across. OK, on Greenspeed news, here's a monster quad that I have just got going for Megan and Roger, check it out at Bentrider or Velovision and their website here. Just finished re-designing the frame logos for the frames, made the head-tube logo bigger, kept the seat-tube the same size but made the font larger, added a black/silver down-tube logo alternative to the current blue/silver one and have changed the website font to silver or black, a preview. Frames will be coming to me in gloss white, ready to leave in that colour or I'll be painting them up in your choice of just about any colour. Just added a Skype account to my forms of communication, you'll find me at paul.bezerkcycles A sweet ride was had by the Bezerk Crew on Easter Friday at Westerfolds, conditions were awesome and the tracks were flowing a treat. Haven't been there for some time, so it was great to see the tracks were in pristine condition. Easter Sunday will see us over at Lysterfield in the morning, looking to do some investigating around of the wider area, eg north of Wellington rd as well. -------------------------------------------------- Firstly, a robust cromoly work of art, vertical dropouts, eccentric bottom bracket, removable v-brake bosses, disc brake ready, single-speed or derailleurs. Next to arrive is a 7005 alloy frame with the same features as above except for the removable v-brakes, this is a disc brake only frame. Last, but not least, is my favourite, a 7005 alloy front triangle with a carbon rear end. Carbon chain and seat stays with alloy vertical dropouts. So what's special about these frames? The two alloy frames use my one piece eccentric bottom bracket shell to increase stiffness and make it creak free as possible and it looks cool too! I personally find many hardtails too hardcore race orientated with steep head angles and ultra short chainstays, I'm looking to bring back a bike that feels comfortable at any speed and let you concentrate on riding. Pictures to follow as soon as I take them! Bezerk Cycles, designed from experience, made by hand. |
